  • Primary and Secondary School Direct Teacher Training Places for Sept. 2018 now available

DTSA’s School Direct ITT programme is designed and delivered in partnership with Derby University judged to be ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsed and offers QTS with PGCE and 60 masters credits. Your individual training experience will lead to you being deployed in schools which will offer you the best possible opportunities to succeed. We have a large number of schools from all phases and contexts that host students and nearly all get early job offers. Our students help shape the programme to meet their needs – their comments have included: ‘Amazing support from DTSA – always available to discuss any issues – always given good advice and has looked out for each and every one of us.’‘Working as a smaller group has been fantastic – the most important part of my year – the support I have had has been wonderful and pulled me through.’ Please contact Frances on schoolsdirect@dtsa.org.uk or mobile 07825 738359 for more detail.

  • ‘Working Wonders in School and Beyond’ Dr Matthew McFall, Researcher, Author and Trainer

    Tuesday 12 June 2018 8am for an 8:30am start - 11:45am at Breadsall Priory, Moor Road, Morley, DE7 6DL

Curiosity, wonder and magic can really improve motivation for learning and raise standards. Matthew is living and academic proof that such approaches really do work. Probably the world’s only school-based ‘Agent of Wonder’, Matthew’s research is all about strategies and structures that generate wonder and curiosity and their effect on engagement and learning. Whether it is the creation of the awesome ‘Wonder Room’ in what was effectively a large cupboard in an inner-city school to a full scale ‘Wonder Maze’ (‘Every school should have one’ – The Guardian) to school trails of philosophical questions to ‘Cabinets of Curiosities’ full of magic and wonder, Matthew has the experience to show how all schools can use such ideas to enhance learning and motivation, the academic research to back it up and the flair as a presenter to help schools make their own magic real. “Simply outstanding today - a breath of fresh air”. “Totally inspiring.” “An inspirational morning - you really fired everyone up and it will have a real impact in classrooms.”
