Engaged, Active Readers: Teaching Comprehension Reading Skills in KS1 and 2

This course will identify the skills needed for children to be active readers of text.
6 separate and complementing skills will be identified and aligned with the expectations of the
National Curriculum and teachers will be shown a number of practical strategies to support teaching, practice and application.
The session will also investigate the range of reading provision needed in all classrooms so that
children become enthusiastic and fluent readers.
Please note: This day is part of the “Improving Reading and Writing” course.
