Grants

DTSA is constantly looking for ways to support schools, including working alongside external organisations and charities who have the same core aims at heart. Grants are one such way that this is achieved, with DTSA sourcing grants and aiding in the application process for them.

Who are we working with?

To aid schools in providing the best possible experiences for their students, DTSA has helped achieve grants and funding for the following institutions:

Kirkstead Junior Academy

Edina Trust – Science Resources for Schools

The Edina Trust offered the opportunity for primary schools within the STEM Learning ENTHUSE Partnership Program to apply for a guaranteed one-off £400 science equipment grant, for the purchase of hand-on science resources for use by pupils in practical investigation activities.

Kirkstead Junior Academy felt that their lack of quality science resources limited the type of science lessons they could deliver, as well as restricting the number of pupils that could actively take part in practical science. They have been awarded the grant and are purchasing equipment including:

– Measuring jugs and cylinders
– Electricity kits
– Soil investigation kits
– K’nex Intro to Simple Mechanisms kit

The Edina Trust offered the opportunity for primary schools within the STEM Learning ENTHUSE Partnership Program to apply for a guaranteed one-off £400 science equipment grant, for the purchase of hand-on science resources for use by pupils in practical investigation activities.

“In order to further bring our science curriculum to life, we will use the requested equipment to allow opportunities across more science lessons to have a hands-on approach to the learning. Children will be able to explore, investigate and analyse key scientific processes in greater depth and see it happening in front of their eyes, rather than relying on videos or teacher demonstrations. It will ensure understanding of key concepts and instil a love of science, filled with awe and wonder.”

They have been awarded the grant and are purchasing equipment including:

– Bug viewers and magnifying lenses
– Magnets
– Measuring cylinders, pipettes and jugs
– Wooden forces slope kits

Edina Trust – Science Resources for Schools

The Edina Trust offered the opportunity for primary schools within the STEM Learning ENTHUSE Partnership Program to apply for a guaranteed one-off £400 science equipment grant, for the purchase of hand-on science resources for use by pupils in practical investigation activities.

“The equipment requested will increase the engagement of children in science as it will allow them to explore and investigate from the very beginning of their time in school, with children being able to work both as individuals and in collaboration. It will enable them to make increased use of the school environment (including a pond and outdoor spaces). Resources created for, and dedicated to science will enhance the enjoyment of and ‘special’ feeling of participating in science activities.”

They have been awarded the grant and are purchasing equipment including:

– Pond nets and magnifiers
– Beakers, funnels and pipettes
– Tanks and petri dishes
– Thermometers

The Edina Trust offered the opportunity for primary schools within the STEM Learning ENTHUSE Partnership Program to apply for a guaranteed one-off £400 science equipment grant, for the purchase of hand-on science resources for use by pupils in practical investigation activities.

“With the generous Edina Trust grant, our school is set to embark on an exhilarating journey of discovery and innovation, transforming our classrooms into vibrant hubs of curiosity and creativity. The new equipment will enable us to run engaging STEM lessons and support clubs where students from Nursery to Year 6 can dive into hands-on experiments, igniting a passion for science from an early age. The children will be able to explore science in detail using the microscopes, build structures and circuits, and explore engineering. These resources will not only enhance our science lessons but will ensure that every child, regardless of background, has the opportunity to explore, experiment, and excel. Our school will be a place where budding scientists and engineers can flourish, fostering a lifelong love for learning and innovation.”

They have been awarded the grant and are purchasing equipment including:

– Magnetic building sets
– Pumping heart and human torso models
– Playground science resources
– Handheld microscopes

Edina Trust – Science Resources for Schools

The Edina Trust offered the opportunity for primary schools within the STEM Learning ENTHUSE Partnership Program to apply for a guaranteed one-off £400 science equipment grant, for the purchase of hand-on science resources for use by pupils in practical investigation activities.

“We have thoroughly enjoyed our partnership with ENTHUSE and have used much of the CPD to enhance and develop our Science curriculum and teaching. Using this grant from The Edina Trust, we aim to enhance our children’s learning of science by developing their observational, questioning and investigating skills. Resources related to the human body and outer space will be used to allow the children to observe the body beyond what they can see themselves. Other resources will be used to ensure all children can participate in experiments (as opposed to one teacher model).”

They have been awarded the grant and are purchasing equipment including:

– Primary Science deluxe lab set
– Human anatomy models
– Planetary models
– Cylinders, beakers and measuring jars

Beeston Fields have gratefully accepted the grant offered by The Edina Trust. As well as looking at equipment that can have multiple uses across different scientific experiments and examples, they also have a focus on light and shadows, which will allow them to perform demonstrations that were previously not possible within their classrooms.

They have been awarded the grant and are purchasing equipment including:

– Dark den and accessories
– Torches
– Horseshoe magnets
– Spring balance force meters
